Who needs a hitch-mounted cargo carrier? Now you can haul gear as you tow by securing it just above your A-frame trailer tongue using the Trailer Tray from Stromberg Carlson. Keep the interior of your vehicle clean and the interior of your trailer clutter-free. Just clamp the 3 supports onto your A-frame, attach the tray to the supports, and load up to 300 lbs of gear.

The adjustable design of the Trailer Tray ensures that it will fit almost any A-frame trailer. The round-tube side supports can be mounted nearly anywhere along the front of your trailer's frame, making it simple to clear obstacles like weight distribution brackets or a propane tank. Just clamp the mounting pockets onto the sides of the frame with the included hardware. Then place the side supports into the pockets and rotate the supports to achieve proper positioning.

The side mounting plates on the tray allow you move the tray up to 7" fore or aft to line up with the supports. As a result, your load will be properly positioned with the weight evenly distributed no matter where the supports sit along the trailer frame. To attach the tray to the supports, slip the top mounting brackets onto the supports and line them up with holes in the tray's side mounting plates. Bolt the brackets to the plates with the included hardware.

When everything is in position, permanently affix the side supports in both the top mounting brackets and the bottom pockets to ensure maximum stability. (This will require drilling into the side supports.)

The front support strut also clamps onto your trailer frame. There are 2 positions on the mounting bracket of this support. The first position lets you clamp the strut around your trailer's frame with the bolts sitting on the outside of the frame. This is done using the outer predrilled holes on the bracket. If there are obstacles on the outside of your trailer frame or if you have a jack mounted at the front of your trailer that prevents you from positioning the bolts on the outside of the frame, then use the inner holes. In this position, the bars of the bracket will grip your trailer's frame, but instead of the bracket being held in place at the outer edges, the bars are secured with the bolts sitting inside of the A-frame.

The front strut adds stability to the Trailer Tray. Most of the weight on the tray will be supported by the round side supports. The front strut helps support shifting loads and, therefore, is particularly beneficial when you travel over rough terrain or if you stop short with a heavy load.

To secure your gear to the Trailer Tray, use the 4 loops that are welded to the tray as tie-down points.

Mounted on 2024 Jayco Feather 25RB. Don't have soft cover for propane tanks yet. Took longer to drill holes than to install it. One person can easily install it if you have some mechanical ability. Only modification needed was to move some wires. I did reverse the table mounts to lower the installed height (as some else recommended). That required the front brace to be cut down around 3" and 2 holes to be drilled in it. Hope this helps.

by:

I bought this after and it had shipped before I seen that it would not fit a v-nose trailer. But that was my fault, but I am here to tell you it will with a few, and I do mean few, and maybe even a couple modifications!Just look at the pics for yourself. I was going to send it back but the metal design and heavy coated paint on it I knew I could not build one better. So I made couple mods and here she is!

This cargo tray does the job for which it is intended. It is strong and will carry the weight of a generator with no problem. While not the easiest for one person to install, it can be done by one person. The hardest part is drilling holes for the bolts after the tray is in position. It is easy to be off a little, and then the tray will not sit quite square with the trailer. Be sure to use a center punch and start with a small drill bit to ensure the holes are in the correct locations. That should help.

Another issue is the front brace. My trailer has a propane tank and the front leg is close to it when mounted. I only have a limited space for the leg. Where Ihave to use it makes it difficult to put on or remove the cover for the propane tank. Although it is very tight, it can work.

The last item has to do with size. Although it is adequate to hold a generator, the shape makes it hard to have a cover to protect the generator. If one can get a cover over the generator, there is no room for a spare gas can. Still, the usefulness of this tray outweighs the comparatively minor negative issues.

I ended up reinstalling it after the trailer had to go to the factory for repair. I am much more pleased with the outcome this time as I got it a little more square to the trailer and spaced slightly farther from the front wall. It would be nice if there were a locking box sized to fit the platform and large enough for a generator such as one of the Honda 2k or Generac ix2000 models, for example. I did add a couple of heavy D rings and use a bicycle lock to lock my generator to the platform and straps to hold it in place. I also use a plastic bin inverted over the top with some bungee cords to cover the generator while traveling. A locking bin would be nicer.

Overall the product works well on my Camper. My unit is a little bit different than most being a toy-hauler pop-up so installation was a work-in-progress approach and I knew that going in
All my lower mounting locations had to be drilled and the bolts ran thru the frame so accuracy of the drilled spots was critical for lining up for the bolts.
I also had slight battery re-location issues as well as my power roof lift winch prevented the front bracket from being installed.
I can carry my 100lb generator or my tool tote (in pic) with no issue(s) and strap them in securely.
My only issue with the product is that the painted overall finish on it has faded to an ugly flat dark grey in less than a year. I guess I expected it to hold up better to weather and UV.
Would I buy it again - yep absolutely

HOLDING UP WELL - NO ISSUES

by:

I purchased this item, and then found it at Camping World for over $[XX] less - which in this case is 30% less. I've been an etrailer customer for years. I contacted etrailer and asked if they would price match, and they jsut replied that they wouldn't. So I am returning this, and will be very wary of purchasing more items from etrailer in the future.

The CC-255 cargo tray table will work great on my Aliner Classic camping trailer. Etrailer researched the question I had on mounting requirements, and I was able to position the tray lower mounts just behind the propane tanks. I had to re-position the tray to fit closer to the trailer wall, so that it would not interfere with the turning radius on my 2013 Avalanche that I tow the Aliner with. This cargo tray is heavy, sturdy, and well built...great product! Thanks Etrailer, for the good service and fast shipping!

Still works good for me. Handy to put items on that I dont need inside my Aliner while camping.

by:

The carrier is robust and built to carry the generator load I have placed on it. Several tie down amd locking options and easy to install. Its also easy to remove if needed for filling my propane tanks. I have traveled to tahoe and other places and the mount is rock solid. The finish is clean and i would say resistant to chipping. Theres nothing i dont like about the choice.

by:

Thanks to Sandy, I received this item within 3 days of ordering but didn't get all the parts . I called and talked to Sandy and 3days later received everything else. She tracked down the 6 parts needed and assured me I'd get them with in 3 days. The trailer tray is very sturdy and adjustable .

Its awesome no more lifting or dragging my generator around , Ive been down some really rough off roads with this trailer and the shelf hasnt moved its on there solid. Thanks for a great product.

by:

As always, great service and an excellent product! I had no trouble assembling and mounting the rack although I had to slightly modify the propane tank cover to clear the a-frame mounting brackets. Those brackets JUST CLEAR the weight distribution spring bars - something you might want to consider in planning your installation.

I wanted to carry 2 electric bicycles on camping trips, but didn't want to hang them on either the back of the trailer or the front of the truck, or to take up valuable space in the truck bed. So I adapted the Stromberg Carlson rack to serve as a bicycle rack by cutting down the cross rails from an old rooftop bike rack, bolting them through the perforated generator tray with u-bolts, and mounting the wheel trays transversely (i.e., sideways to the usual fore-aft position). Up to 3 bicycles could be mounted if a slightly longer cross rail were used, but be aware that the ends could hit the truck tailgate in a tight turn. The resulting rack is easy to use, ensures good visibility, and provides good theft protection. I've had LOTS of 'hey, that's cool!' comments too!

by:

I purchased this rack to carry two Honda generators on my travel trailer. Assembly was super easy, fit was perfect, and the whole assembly was extremely easy to adjust for an exact fit. The power coat is also super tough and perfectly applied - no runs, bubbles, gaps, or uneven areas. Oh, did I mention this is also amazingly strong and stable? Yes, it is rock solid when loaded with both my generators and an auxiliary five gallon fuel cell, and I even stood on it to replace one of my running lights. This great looking cargo rack is the best, most useful thing I've added to my travel trailer.

by:

Great product and customer service.

I
bought this as the second one for my travel trailer. I used two of them to make a tiered system on my travel trailer for my generators and auxiliary fuel tank. Every where I have traveled, I have had people comment and photograph the rack system. I have advised of the manufacturer and Etrailer.com as the source of this product.

I would always recommend this product to anyone.

by:

Good service from etrailer.com as usual.

The
tongue cargo carrier is very solid with good powder coating.

Because I installed it on a Lance 1995 with its Tri-5 propane tanks and cover along with the sloping front it did take some modifications to allow the tank cover removal without disassembly.

The instructions consist of a picture materials list so unless your good with easy puzzles get help.

Happy with the purchase and my brother plans to get one for mounting his generator on his Apex Nano. It'll be easy, no mods/cutting just bolt up.

Be sure you have a quality drill bolt for the support tubes, it ain't no soft steel your drilling thru!!!

by:

I would have given a 5 star review but the tray/shelf came with no instructions. The tray looks good and is very sturdy. I would recommend this product and etrailer.

The tray works very very well. I was able to cut 6 inches off of the height to lower it. I have the smaller propane tanks. Lowering the height makes it much easier to access the generator I put on it.

by:

I bought this for my pop-top trailer to give me a spot for my cooler to get it out of the back of our Tahoe to make more room for other cargo. The problem I had was based on the dimensions of this, it would sit too high on my pop-top, and interfere with the slide-outs. I contacted etrailer.com with a question if they though the supports could be shortened to accommodate my specific needs, the reply was that he felt I could cut down the supports, so I wend ahead and ordered it! I was able to remove 7 inches of height from this and it works PERFECTLY now for me. It’s SUPER stable with heavy gague metal, I have no concerns putting a fully loaded Yeti cooler on this! Some pictures of my implementation are included. My ONLY complaint about this kit was that the bolts that go through the support (where you have to drill a hole through the support) were too short for the bottom, I had to go buy a 1/2 inch longer bolt and everything was perfect. I was able to get the nut installed on the included bolt, but it wasn’t long enough to really engage the locking portion of the nut so I was concerned it might loosen over time. I also purchased YETI’s tie-down kit to secure my YETI 105 to this shelf.

by:

First of all etrailer was very efficient in every way. The order processing was fast and the shipping was excellent and FREE. I normally do not do reviews, I even included a picture of the shipping box. First time ever; have I received a package that was a Box inside a Box inside another Box. Well protected! Price on etrailer is the best, as I am a price researcher. beat the other guys. The Cargo Tray is very well built and very sturdy. I needed a place on the tongue to put two large heavy 6 volt golf cart batteries in series. My trailer's tongue had no room to get this accomplished; now after installing the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Cargo Tray, I have a lot of extra storage room, I even have room for a tool box behind the propane tank. The tray has ample tie down spots for extra stuff. Definitely 5 stars, the only improvement I would suggest; is a better more detailed installation instructions with diagrams. I installed it in approx. 2 1/2 hours by myself. I would recommend this product!

by:

I have a champion generator that weighs 108 lbs. I have it strapped in using 3 cargo straps which are USA made and rated at 900 lbs. This generator is mounted on the Stromberg shelf. We have sent the photos of the Stromberg shelf already.

by:

Instead of building (fabricating) one of these for my trailer, I decided to buy this based on reviews I read. It is heavy at 60 lbs, but is heavy duty and a good design I feel. Was able to assemble and install by myself on the trailer. Where the instructions recommend another body to help. Installed the brackets to the frame first. Mounted the side brackets on the tray. (The stove bolt square holes on the side brackets & tray required filing the "powder coating" out to get the bolts to seat properly.) Loosely, but in a firm way mounted the front support brace and angle brace and took measurements on where to mount the brackets (that the tubing seats into on the tray side mounting bracket (plate). I used non-nyloc nuts at first for quicker and easier adustment but, got it right the first time with my measurements taken. Overall is a good design. On the front (single) upright bracket with 4 holes that attaches to the frame and uses long bolts (2 were in the bag and were 8 inchs long) I went to the hardware store and got 4 shorter ones of proper length for my frame size. I was able to use bolts in all 4 holes for better support of the lower bracket to the frame. To drill out the holes they say to do, I used an angle drill that I have, to driill out the holes (on lower frame bracket) that were close to the front body of the camper, so I did not have to mark and remove those brackets. The 4 bolts in the bag were to short to engage the nyloc on the nut. The upper hole drilled out on the tray bracket engaged the nyloc portion of the nut properly. So had to buy 2 longer bolts for the bottom frame braket drilled out. Thats why no 5 stars, but nothing is perfect, but this is designed to fit a multitude of different type A-frame type trailers with minor alterations.

by:

Have found the mount perfect place for my generators, and have many comments on it. The green straps keeps them nice and secure while traveling and the steel cable thwarts thievery. The steel cables are secured with special security screws and nuts that require special tools to remove. I loosen the green straps when running them to reduce vibration. You really can't tell they are running.

by:

Instructions could be better, lots of trial and error find where the mounts position it best. Hardware package came open, missing a few lock nuts… it happens. Good news is once installed it’s very solid, fits good, looks good. Propane cover is tight but can be removed. Very satisfied with the result.

by:

We received this earlier than we anticipated and had to hold off installing it until Tropical Depression Gordon moved out of Little Rock. My husband installed it over the last two days while avoid a few rain storms lingered. The eTrailer cover fits the Champion generator quite well. We bought several things from eTrailer for both our slide in and for the Coleman and have never been disappointed. I'm still a little dumbfounded though that they work holidays and weekends!

by:

The overall fit and finish is good. There was 2 holes in one of the brackets that were not drilled out . Time of installation was about an hour and half , including adding the spare tire carrier. Order shipping was very slow.

by:

Very good quality and extremely sturdy. I installed this on my new 10’ mini camper called the SunRay 109 to have a platform for a trailer box to store my little 2000 watt inverter generator, gas can and other items. I was so surprised to know someone actually made this type of mount as I drew up abs scetch of almost exactly this to have made. Man what a great product.

by:

The tray met my needs after some modifications. I cut the tubing down and flipped the tray over so I could mount a bike rack. I now have a rock solid bike rack on the front of my hybrid camper and can fold down the front bed without removing the bike rack. There is still room for another bike rack.

by:

This is an awesome product. I mounted an Onan generator on it and it's perfect. It's well made and very strong. The generator is not light so it had to be sturdy enough for the weight and able to handle the movement of travel

by:

Very well made and thought out. It had many ways to adjust. I fit on a vnose trailer with very little room. See pics.

Still working great. The only small negative is you have to make sure you dont completely jack knife your trailer or it will contact the tailgate. I mounted a pickup toolbox to it waterproof and locking
